The Pear Tree Inn is situated just south of the Cotswolds and north of the Mendips and there is plenty to see and do around Whitley and the town of Melksham. Near to Bath, Bristol and the villages of Castle Combe and Lacock, the Pear Tree is an ideal base for touring the area.
Lacock Abbey featured in the first two Harry Potter movies, is a country house created out of a medieval abbey and is the former house of William Henry Fox Talbot who was a pioneer of photography. There are beautifully restored botanic gardens and greenhouses as well as a fascinating museum dedicated to the "father of modern photography".
